A township is a unit of local government, usually a subdivision of a county. Cook County, Illinois -for example- contains 29 townships. Barrington Township is in the far northwest corner of the county.
Townships are organized political entities. Each county is headed by a Township Committeeperson, an elected or appointed position. The Township may appoint a Board of Directors. Each township also contains precincts.
Think of a precinct as a neighborhood. It is a political subdivision of a township.
Each precinct should have a 'Precinct Captain', an official party role, which in Cook County is appointed. In some counties, PC's are an elected position. Think of a precinct captain as a Neighborhood Team Leader.

Robin has lived in the Barrington area since 1988. She raised her 3 children in S. Barrington and has had leadership roles on various PTO’s, the Grove Carnival, school board candidates elections and the Building referenda in the late 90’s. Her interest in local and national politics began in the end of her undergrad in 1976 and was propelled by the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980. After shedding a few tears; she volunteered for NARAL and led the Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates chapter of NOW, working on the passage of the ERA. Robin has volunteered for BACOA for several years and for various political campaigns including Senator Paul Simon, Senator Dick Durbin, President Barack Obama, Rep. Sean Casten and Maria Peterson. She has worked with GPAD (Greater Palatine Area Democrats) sending cards, participating in protests and making calls. She was a volunteer at the 2024 Democratic Convention in Chicago and spent time canvassing for Kamala in Wisconsin through mobilize.us and Indivisible.
Robin was surprised and excited upon realizing that Dems were organized and present in the once solid red Barrington area. She feels communication is key to educating voters with true facts in this new world of lies, misinformation and conspiracy theories.
